Edwin Paling to Premiere Violin Sonata in 2009

Next year will see the première of Matthew Dewey’s Violin Sonata No.1. The work, which is currently being composed, will be given by the head of classical music at the University of Tasmania (and former concert master of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra) Professor Edwin Paling together with Dr. Arabella Teniswood-Harvey. Dewey Lecturing in Composition at the University of Tasmania

Matthew Dewey will be lecturing in composition at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music for the second semester of 2008. The move comes as current dean of school and head of composition Professor Douglas Knehans moves to accept a new position as Dean of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Dewey will lecture in composition and lead the analysis seminar – supervising undergraduate composers in their studies.
