Andrew Corder Thinks Twice by Finegan Kruckemeyer with
Partly It’s About Love… Partly It’s About Massacre by Fiona Sprott
One man, one woman, two superbly written one-act plays and a doubly delightful trip to the theatre.
Kruckemeyer’s Andrew Corder Thinks Twice is a blistering fusion of the near and far, the local and global, the hysterical and the horrific. “This man is Andrew Corder. He doesn’t own a car. He speaks some words of a second language, and hates the fact he used to know a lot more. He has deceptively strong arms, and walks to work the same way every day. Andrew Corder does not think about Palestine every day. This morning, however, he does.”
Sprott’s Partly It’s About Love… Partly It’s About Massacre is a darkly comic foray into the world of Love and Loss (of the self). “Jezebel has arrived at the altar at last but her dress is stained with blood and the groom is in hospital. So what happened to the Good Old Days when she never had to negotiate the division of space in the bed, when nobody ever passed wind on the couch while she was eating dinner, when she never had to turn down the maintenance man for a quickie? Eternal togetherness is feeling a bit too close for comfort!”
