Lucy Wilson’s street corner performance ‘Underwhere’ has been taken up for performance at the Adelaide Fringe Festival! Supported by funding from Arts Tasmania, the show will also feature at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) – a meeting ground for Australian and International producers. Role of Douglas Mawson in Concert Premiere of The Call of Aurora

Matthew Dewey played the lead role of Douglas Mawson in Joe Bugden’s new opera ‘The Call of Aurora’ in a concert version at the Peacock Theatre on Saturday the 17th of November. The performance was conducted by Gary Wain, directed by Robert Jarman and featured the vocal talent of Michael Lampard, Michael Curtain and Pamela Andrews. Joe Bugden Biography JOE BUGDEN was born in Sydney in 1961. He has worked as director of the Tasmanian Writers’ Centre since April 1999.

Premiere of Aria from ‘The Buzz of the Sea’

Tasmanian Baritone Michael Lampard together with Pianist Karen Smithies will give the premiere of an aria from the new opera by Matthew Dewey with libretto by NIDA graduate Alexander Dick called The Buzz of the Sea. The opera, composed specifically for Michael to perform, is a one man chamber opera designed to act as a double bill for Dewey’s second opera, The Death of Chatterton.
